SLCA Update
Executive Director Hired! SLCA Executive Director Hired

We would like to welcome our new Executive Director, Julia Geisler, to the Salt Lake Climbers Alliance. Julia, originating from Western Maryland, came to Park City six years ago and fell in love with climbing in the Wasatch and the Uintas. Through her experience as a rock climbing guide, she has developed a deep desire to share her passion with others. Julia will be a perfect fit for the SLCA because she believes strongly that it is necessary to have a tightly knit climbing community to promote and preserve local access, and stewardship of the environment. She is looking forward to meeting you at the Reel Rock Tour at The Tower October 5th and The Black Diamond Gear Swap 8am-12 October 22nd.

Other News and Events

Latrines in Joes Valley
latrine1The SLCA, with the help of its donors, has once again installed latrines at two camping areas in Joes Valley (you can't miss them) for the busy fall 2011 season.

It is our hope that the use of these latrines will help keep campsites enjoyable and will also minimize climber impact in the area. Latrines will be installed seasonally, depending on donations. We're relying on you to help us maintain these latrines. Please visit our donation page and make a contribution. The SLCA would like to thank Ryan W, Craig L, Jared A, Jami S, Kyle M, Troy F and (last but not least) our very own Matt Goreham for their assistance with the Joes Valley latrine project.

Snow Riding Films
UAC We can relate to the fact that many climbers are also avid snow riders. Take a look at the calendar of events published by the Utah Avalanche Center here.
