In Memory of Will Harrison Ryan

The Salt Lake Climbers Alliance community is deeply saddened by the passing of Will Harrison Ryan and shares this tribute from his father in remembrance of his life.

Will Harrison Ryan passed away on November 7, 2025 peacefully, surrounded by his family after a nine month battle with cancer.

Will was born August 22, 1996 in San Francisco to Peter & Diana Ryan. His early life was spent in Mill Valley, CA and in Sun Valley, Idaho where he attended Hemingway Elementary School. The Ryan family returned to Mill Valley in 2006 where Will attended Marin Primary & Middle School and Tamalpais High School.

Will was a kind soul, energetic, loved his friends and had many interests. He moved to Salt Lake City in his early twenties and found a yearning for the outdoors…rock climbing, golf, fishing and hiking in the Wasatch Mountains.

His great love was music and a good cigar. Will played the piano, enjoyed jazz, and had a wonderful collection of vinyl records which he proudly played for friends and family.

He is survived by his parents Peter and Diana, brother Timothy, Aunts.
Jeannie Vaughn, Patsy Pinney, Lori Ryan, & Kate Houlihan, Uncles.
Peter Vaughn, William Pinney, Andrew Ryan, Bob Ryan, & Patrick Ryan.
Cousins. Conner & Meagan Houlihan, Conner Ryan, Nicolas, Justin & Kiara Ryan, Harry Vaughn, Emma Vaughn & Annie Seely.

A celebration of life will be held in early June in Salt Lake City, UT.
