Volunteer: Recap of Gate Buttress Stewardship.
On March 19th and 20th, 2026 the SLCA and volunteers went out, performing brush back and light trail maintenance at the Gate Buttress in Little Cottonwood Canyon. The work consisted of brush back and downed tree removal on the 5-Mile Trail, Fin Access Trail, Lizard Head Access Trail, and the Green Adjective Access Trail.
Springtime is a great time to get out midweek and take on these light stewardship projects. As the canyon wakes up and new growth begins to push in, it’s easier to see where trails are narrowing and where winter has left its mark. Snow, runoff, and falling debris can take a toll on access trails, and getting in early helps keep them defined, durable, and safer for everyone who uses them.
Thank you to everyone who showed up!
