Access Alert! Bears Ears

BREAKING NEWS from our friends at the Access Fund...

We have a big favor to ask...the future of iconic climbing areas in southern Utah will be debated this Saturday, and we need your help.

There will be a public "listening session" to hear stakeholder input on the future of the Bears Ears region, which includes Indian Creek, Castle Valley, Fisher Towers, San Rafael Swell, Valley of the Gods, Texas and Arch Canyons, Lockhart Basin, Comb Ridge, and countless other climbing opportunities. It will be hosted by U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell and U.S. Department of Agriculture Under Secretary Robert Bonnie, alongside the leaders of the NPS, BLM, and USFS.

There are two competing plans on the table for the future of southern Utah's public land--and both have implications for climbers and the environment. Learn more here. This listening session will seek the public's input on both of these plans. This is a rare and invaluable opportunity to meet with our Native American and conservation partners while sharingclimbers' unique perspective on land protection with high-level land managers.

Will you join us in Bluff, Utah this Saturday? Climbers have a lot at stake in this battle over the future of Utah's public lands, and we need a strong showing at this meeting to protect climbing access.

When: Saturday, July 16

  • Climber Huddle: 10:30 - 12:00 pm
  • Listening Session: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
