Anna - a Film Night with Petzl
Anna - a Film Night with Petzl
A Powerful Evening of Film and Conversation
On September 3rd, the Salt Lake Climbers Alliance and Petzl Headquarters came together for a sold-out film night celebrating resilience, community, and the transformative power of climbing. Guests packed into the venue for an exclusive screening of Anna, followed by a moving live Q&A with Petzl Athlete Anna Pfaff.
The evening began with a sense of anticipation and excitement, as the climbing community gathered to support SLCA’s ongoing work in the Wasatch — from anchor maintenance to stewardship and local advocacy. Thanks to ticket sales, donations, and an opportunity drawing, the event raised vital funds that will go directly toward protecting climbing access in our backyard.
The Film
Anna is an unflinching and intimate portrait of Anna Pfaff’s journey following a devastating frostbite injury in Alaska. The film explores her physical recovery, her evolution as a climber, and her transformation as a human being. Audiences were deeply moved by the honesty and vulnerability woven throughout the film — a story not just of survival, but of reinvention, resilience, and the power of forward movement.
A Conversation to Remember
Following the screening, Anna took the stage for a candid Q&A that quickly became the heart of the night. She spoke openly about loss, recovery, and redefining success in the outdoors and beyond. Her words resonated deeply, reminding everyone that “our best is always changing, and the only thing we can do is keep moving forward.”
The exchange between Anna and the audience was powerful — inspiring laughter, thoughtful reflection, and even a few tears. It was a rare chance to connect with an athlete whose story continues to inspire climbers everywhere. Together, we celebrated not only Anna’s story, but also the strength of the climbing community here in Utah.
