Level up your skills with hands-on clinics led by local guide outfitters and explore the latest gear through demos from your favorite climbing brands. It’s your chance to grow as a climber and support the professionals who make access and education possible in our community.

Then, cap it off with a night of stoke, stories, and mountain air at The Notch—featuring live music, cold drinks, local vendors, and high-alpine vibes.

Festival ticket includes dinner, a drink ticket, Alpha Coffee and breakfast snacks, entry into our opportunity drawing—and all-day good energy.

    🧗 10:00 - 11:00 AM – Gear Up & Go Climb - Clinics will leave at 10:30 AM

    Swing by The Notch to grab demo gear and meet your guides if you’ve signed up for a clinic. Then head out to the Uinta Mountains for a day of climbing, learning, and exploring with local pros.

    Not doing guided instruction? Grab a cup of Alpha Coffee and join our Partner Finder Coffee Hour. Connect with other climbers and glean local beta from SLCA staff on the best crags to check out.

    Honky Blue Tonky - homegrown, wild grown, honky tonk, bluegrass and grassroots music. Andy Bailey (banjo, guitar, vocals), Elliot Goldman (mandolin, guitar, banjo, vocals), Gabriel Pramuk (fiddle, mandolin, vocals), Jerry Cochran (Telecaster, mandolin, fiddle) and Mark Vier (Bass). Harnessing the lonesome bluegrass standards of Bill Monroe to the honky-tonk greats of western dance halls. We'll get your feet movin' and your boots stompin!

  • After the party, keep the good vibes rolling—camp in the Uintas with friends under starry skies.

    Reserve a site at nearby campgrounds like Mirror Lake, Shady Dell, or Soapstone at recreation.gov.

    Prefer solitude? Dispersed camping is allowed along Mirror Lake Highway—just follow USFS guidelines and grab a pass at the Kamas Ranger Station or online.

    Pack out what you pack in, secure your food against bears, and choose a spot at least 200 ft from water sources to follow USFS Leave No Trace guidelines.

    Castle Peak Yurt

    Nestled at 9,800 feet in Utah’s pristine Uinta Mountains, the

    Castle Peak Yurt offers an unparalleled backcountry experience. As the flagship hut of the Western Uinta Hut System, this fully renovated yurt provides year-round access to over 100,000 acres of wilderness, catering to adventurers seeking both solitude and excitement.

  • Mirror Lake Scenic Byway – Uinta Mountains Info

    Located less than two hours from Salt Lake City, the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway (SR-150) winds 42 miles from Kamas, Utah, into the Uinta Mountains, reaching a peak elevation of 10,715 feet at Bald Mountain Pass. The route features dramatic alpine scenery, lakes, waterfalls, picnic areas, and trailheads, and it eventually connects to the Wyoming border. The Uinta range is unique for its east-west orientation.

    Know Before You Go:

    • Cell Service: Limited or none throughout the Uintas.

    • Weather: August brings warm days (70s°F) and chilly nights (30s°F), with frequent afternoon thunderstorms.

    • Dogs: Allowed, but must be leashed in campgrounds, trailheads, picnic areas, and parking lots.

  • Make sure to grab your Mirror Lake Scenic Byway pass—you can pick one up at the USFS Kamas Ranger Station, use an America the Beautiful National Parks Pass, or purchase locally at the Samak Smoke House & Country Store.

    The Backcountry Pros is a Salt Lake City–based guide service (est. 2015) offering half-day to multi-day rock climbing and instruction in the Wasatch—led by AMGA-certified guides.

    Backcountry Pros will be offering Intro to Trad clinics on Saturday and Sunday at the Green Meadow Crag during the festival weekend. These will fill fast!

    Description:

    3:1 ratio $150pp

    This is a 3:1 low ratio offering with AMGA trained guides. This is not intended to be an 'on the ground only' clinic. Students will climb and place gear with direct instructor feedback and appropriate safety systems in place.

    “Trad”, or traditional, climbing means placing protection on lead and building anchors with removable, re-usable equipment that fits into cracks in the rock. While most trad-climbers no longer trust their lives to a machine nut with some string tied through it, learning how to place modern equipment securely takes practice and a creative mind. Get started with each in this exciting course!

    Topics Include:

    -Route selection and risk assessment
    -Racking
    -Assessing rock quality
    -Placement of active and passive protection
    -Minimizing rope drag
    -Safe leading and following- strategy with gear
    -Building anchors
    -Belay considerations

  • Utah Mountain Adventures (est. 1993 in the Wasatch Range near Salt Lake City and Park City) offers guided rock and ice climbing, avalanche education, mountaineering, backcountry skiing, trekking, and technical courses led by an extensive team of AMGA/IFMGA‑certified guides  .

    They provide both half-day and multi-day climbing instruction and guiding in iconic Wasatch canyons like Little & Big Cottonwood, Mt. Olympus, Bell’s Canyon, plus alpine ice climbing and mountaineering skills—ideal for building expertise in some of Utah’s most spectacular terrain  .
