The Salt Lake Climbers Alliance will be at Utah Outdoor Recreation Day on the Hill on Friday, February 6, 2026, representing climbers and climbing stewardship at the Utah State Capitol.

Outdoor Recreation Day on the Hill brings together outdoor organizations, industry partners, land managers, and elected officials to celebrate Utah’s outdoor recreation economy and the people who care for these landscapes. For SLCA, it’s an important opportunity to elevate the role climbers play in stewardship, access, and responsible recreation across the state.

SLCA is a recipient of Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation grant funding that directly supports professional anchor maintenance and trail stewardship at climbing areas across Utah. These state investments help ensure climbing areas remain safe, accessible, and responsibly managed for the long term. Being present at the Capitol allows us to share how these funds translate into real, on-the-ground outcomes — and why continued support for these programs is essential.

Throughout the morning, we’ll be connecting with legislators and agency partners about:

  • Professional climbing stewardship and fixed anchor maintenance

  • Trail stewardship and recreation infrastructure at climbing areas

  • Long-term access to climbing areas on public lands

  • The importance of sustained state investment in outdoor recreation stewardship

Events like this help ensure that climbing is part of the broader outdoor recreation conversation — not just as a sport, but as a community deeply invested in caring for the places we recreate. Showing up matters, especially when we can demonstrate the direct impact of state funding and the return on investment for Utah’s outdoor recreation economy and landscapes.
