Science on Tap
Share a drink and hear some science with Science on Tap and SLCA.
For one night only, presenting talks from local climbers doing research that impacts all of us. We will have 3 incredible speakers giving 20 minute talks on their work.
Science on Tap is an event series wherein we bring scientists and researchers out to local bars, cideries, and breweries to give talks on a topic of their choice to their friends and neighbors in the community. Our speakers have presented on everything from the history of genetics and UFOs to the intersection of medicine and music and reproductive health. Organized from scientists at the University of Utah.
On April 27th, local climbers and recreationalists are invited about SLCA's stewardship activities and the exciting work of scientists in our community.

Dr. Atim Enyenihi
Dr. Anson Call
Dr. Carrie Cooper
Dr. Atim Enyenihi is a scientist and TEDx speaker whose work spans academia, industry, and public service.
She holds a PhD in Chemistry and has spent nearly two decades in the life sciences, working across biotechnology, pharmaceutical research and development, clinical diagnostics, and newborn screening—contributing to tests and therapies that improve lives.
Dr. Atim has also served as a Strategic Industry Advisor for technology and innovation to the Mayor of Salt Lake City. She is the founder of Alignis, where she helps scientists and STEM professionals navigate career decisions and direction. Her recent work brings attention to something we rarely think about: the invisible chemistry of the indoor environments we spend time in—including spaces like climbing gyms.
Anson was raised in Draper and cut his climbing teeth in American Fork Canyon and Rock Canyon, though these days you're more likely to catch him mountain biking on Colorado's Front Range.
Anson now lives in Fort Collins, Colorado, where he works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Colorado Forest Restoration Institute, which is part of Colorado State University. Anson is currently working on the mapping and spatial analysis of forest management activities to understand their impact on wildfire risk.
Dr. Carrie Cooper is a physical therapist and researcher based in Salt Lake City whose work focuses on climbing-related injuries.
She has published research on finger injuries in climbers and has spent years studying how the body adapts to the unique demands of climbing. Her work draws from both scientific research and real-world observation across athletes ranging from recreational climbers to Olympians.
Her recent work explores how we can better understand injury not just as damage—but as part of a broader process of adaptation, capacity, and resilience.
