Anchor Maintenance: Blue Walls and Forgotten Trails
During the week of October 6–10, 2025, the anchor crew headed high into American Fork Canyon for five days of maintenance work in the secluded Forgotten Trails and Blue Walls areas.
For the first two and a half days, the team focused on the more heavily trafficked routes at Blue Walls, including Diminished Capacity (5.12a), Under the Knife (5.11d), Code Blue (5.12d), and several others. Around the corner on the north face, we also worked on Genetic Loadings (5.12c) and Stemming the Tide (5.11d). All routes were upgraded with Team-Tough Crossover glue-in bolts and mussy hook lower-offs.
Throughout the week, we ran a fundraiser to support this grueling effort to replace and maintain anchors at one of the higher crags on the south side of the canyon—outside of designated wilderness. You can still help keep this work going by clicking the donation button below.
After wrapping up at Blue Walls, we moved over to Forgotten Trails. While we only managed to tackle a small portion of the routes in this area (don’t worry—we’ll be back in 2026), we rebolted several of the shorter, popular pocketed routes as well as some of the longer, technical extensions that stretch over 80 feet. Routes included Trash Kicker (5.12d), Macedonia (5.11d–5.12c), The Bleaker → Still Too Bleak (5.11b–5.12c), and Boy Wonder (5.10b).
The climbing community can expect more anchor work at Forgotten Trails in 2026—once we can safely cross the river after the seasonal snowmelt.
